“We had a beautiful Granite fire pit cut and installed by True Blue Surfaces. The staff was super friendly and helpful. My family loves the fire pit! They had a wide variety of granite and other stones to choose from. Will be using them again soon to replace my countertops. Highly recommended.”

What Are the Different Colors of Quartz?
Engineered quartz is the style chameleon of countertops. Whether you love modern or traditional, subtle tones or vibrant colors, honed or polished, flecked or patterned, quartz’s myriad options will have you covered. Engineered quartz is also easy to maintain, nontoxic and nonallergenic — there’s not much to dislike about this stunning man-made material.
Types of Quartz
Looking to install or upgrade to quartz countertops? While Quartz is one particular category of engineered stone, there are three different types of finishes you can choose for your kitchen or bath:
Honed Finish – A honed countertop finish will give your quartz countertops a flat, matte appearance. This finish is extremely smooth without the typical shine you’d see from quartz. Homeowners with kids or busy households like the honed finish because it hides the appearance of smudges, streaks, and fingerprints in the light.
Polished Finish – Quartz countertops with a polished finish is exactly what you’d expect — a high, glossy shine that makes your kitchen or bath countertops pop. While the polished finish gives your quartz countertops a stunning, traditional look, they do require more maintenance to keep them clean and free of smudges or streaks.
Sueded Finish – Similar to a honed finish, a sueded finish gives your quartz more depth and texture. Darker quartz countertops in your kitchen or bath tend to look better with the sueded finish. But just like the matte look you’ll find with honed countertops, sueded quartz countertops hide smudges and streaks, requiring less maintenance to keep them looking clean.

Quartz kitchen and bath countertops are very easy to clean and maintain compared to granite or marble. But even though they don’t require regular sealing, there are still ways to maintain the natural beauty of your quartz after you’ve had your countertops professionally installed.
Here’s how to properly clean and polish your quartz countertops to keep them looking great:
- Use a soft microfiber cloth or non-abrasive sponge
- Clean using a small amount of liquid dish soap and warm water
- Avoid using bleach or any other harsh chemicals
- Do not use any rough sponges like a brillo or scouring pad
- Wipe up spills or splashes right away with a sponge or paper towel

Frequently Asked Questions about Quartz Countertops
While there are pros and cons to every surface, quartz countertops have grown in popularity for how durable and easy they are to maintain. As an engineered stone, quartz countertops do not have the natural stone appearance that granite does. But they do offer homeowners and builders more options when it comes to colors and textures.
No. One of the popular benefits of quartz kitchen and bath countertops is how durable and stain-resistant they are. Quartz is a non-porous material, so liquids and other types of stains don’t penetrate the surface like concrete or granite. This is why quartz countertops are such a popular choice for kid bathrooms, high-traffic areas, and public or commercial spaces.
Quartz countertops can be cleaned with a soft sponge with dish soap and warm water. Mild soaps and cleaners like glass cleaner are also safe to use on quartz, but we highly recommend avoiding the use of any harsh chemicals or industrial-strength cleaners, like bleach or ammonia.
